Satin Matte Line Numbered 700-799
The saturated color and satin matte finish make these glazes stand out from the rest. Offering a soft durable finish, Opulence Satin Matte Glazes work well for functional work as well as sculpture. A slow cool after firing will draw out the matte finish beautifully.
By Overlapping any Reduction Look 600 series over or under any Satin Matte you can achieve nice flow and movement. This is a great way of adding unique colors to a piece, or a more matte finish if the Satin Matte glaze is the top glaze of the combination. We recommend that this overlap not be used too close to the bottom due to this nice flow.
You can create your own C/6 Satin Matte glaze color by mixing stains or raw colorants to: 710 Matte Clear for saturated colors or 713 Matte White for more pastel colors
Although Satin Matte Glazes fire beautifully at C/6, for a more matte effect, try firing C/5 with a 30-minute hold. We do recommend thorough testing under your circumstances to assure good results.
Opulence Glazes are thicker than most glazes and are therefore more forgiving before fired. They can be rubbed, sanded, and scraped without adverse effects.
When purchased in dry form and mixed with water they can be dipped, poured, sprayed without the addition of deflocculants, or binders. For brushing try our liquid pints.
All Opulence Glazes are Lead and Barium Free, Food Safe, Dishwasher Safe and Microwave Safe.
Although Opulence Glazes were designed for C/6 electric firing, customers have reported successful results in gas or wood kiln as well as at various temperatures and conditions. We do recommend thorough testing under your circumstances to assure good results.
